Deborah Benton

Background

Deborah Benton is a Partner at Kaktus Capital, an investment fund focused on early stage branded consumer. A seasoned consumer retail executive with a specific passion for industries focused on women, she brings many years of operational management experience at the highest level to the firm.

Most recently, Deborah served as President and Chief Operating Officer for NastyGal, the preeminent online women’s fashion retailer for the millennial set. In 2012, NastyGal was named one of the fastest growing retailers in the country. During her tenure, Deborah drove over 400% increase in revenue while effectively building out the team and infrastructure to support such explosive growth.

Prior to NastyGal, Deborah was Chief Operating Officer of ShoeDazzle, an online women’s shoe and accessories company, joining when the company was only six months old. As COO, she was a member of the executive team that achieved over 20 times growth in revenue in just two and a half years.

Prior to joining ShoeDazzle, Deborah served as Executive Vice President, Operations and Inside Sales at Teleflora where she managed a $100+ million P&L. Previously, she was part of the pre‐IPO team at eToys as Director of Customer Service Strategy, overseeing large-scale call center and operations initiatives. Deborah began her career as a management consultant at the Mitchell Madison Group.

Deborah is an active supporter of women’s entrepreneurship in Southern California and is an advisory board member for Women Founders Network. She currently serves as a Board Director for The Bouqs, Carbon38 and Vow to be Chic. She is also a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy.
